Day Nine, Tuesday

July 23, Tuesday, Day 9

Worked all day on the punchcutting. Starting to work on a capitol letter D, Made a smoke proof and transferred it to a blank punch. Did the marking around the letter scribed the end of the punch for location. I am sitting on a pile of books to make the height of the chair correct for me at the pin on the bench. The books I am sitting on: Letters to a Friend by Paul Reps; Type & Lettering by Willliam Longyear; Themes & Variations, the publications of Vincent Fitzgerald from 1980-2000; Words of Risk, The Art of Thomas Ingmire; Hunt Roman, the Birth of a Type; WAD to RR, A Letter about designing Type; and Christian Axel-Nilsson’s, Type Studies. So I have the history of Typography and Letters as a foundation from the bottom up!
