Day 21, Monday,

Today Gahlord and I worked at the Type Archive with time on the Super Caster, with Gerry Drayton, taking the machine apart and putting it back together again.

We also looked at the catalogue of the many mats that Monotype has the punches for, in the hopes of getting a few. John from the Netherlands came over to London today to bring over the finished broadside that he printed, that we cast as part of our studies on the composition caster. We also met Ian Gabb, who teaches at the Royal College of Art, and Nick Gill, from Hand and Eye Press, who came in to work at the Type Archive. They were very knowledgeable and interesting to chat with. In the evening we took the Tube to see Chris Rule, a friend that Dan and I knew from the American Typecasting Fellowship. We enjoyed dinner with him and he is putting us up for a few days.
