Today, I worked cutting the inside of the D to reach the final indication, scraping and polishing with the fine graveurs—and then worked on a blank punch to start the beard slope. A new challenge for my hands, new tools, the files and a smaller punch, so it was different muscles in my hand. Gahlord Dewald gave Nelly and I some hand exercises to try which we have been doing, to limber up our hands.

In the evening we walked up to a farm on a piece of lovely land, overlooking the village hills. We had dinner with Paul Dobbs from Massachusetts College of Art & Design, and Ginger Mullen on their farm.
