Today Nelly had me working on repeating the technique for exterior angles, on another punch and starting a small O. The technique for the interior of the O is the same as the larger D, but much smaller. I worked on both and we organized our notes together, with Nelly signing the front page of the many pages of her drawings. We also talked about the heating of the punch and the quenching of the punch. In addition I cut a new length of steel to start a new punch, and follow the process from start to finish.
It rained today, making everything interior. Today is our last full day working together here in NH, at least for this time. I hope to reconnect either in France or in the States.
It has been amazingly fun, increasing in our total tiredness as the final week ensued. Probably because for me I was not only learning something new, and difficult, but was also speaking a different language for three weeks. I am sure that Nelly also is very tired. But we are both happy to have had this profoundly transformative experience together.
à la prochaine fois, au revoir
